While speaking shortly after the ceremony, Open Salawu who is also the Waziri Jari Nupe, thanked Allah and the Muslim ummah for finding him worthy of the position due to his contribution to the society.
He promised to do more and prayed Allah should grant everyone long lives to witness it.
His words: “Glory be to God, it is a thing of a joy, it is one of the so many things that God have in package for us. It is destined that we’ll be Giwa Adini today.
“I was made to understand that the last Giwa Adini bears the same name with me. So it could be a coincidence of destiny, but we know this is as a result of contribution to the growth of society, and we pray that almighty Allah should spare our lives so that we can do more.”

“It is unity, the founder of Islam preaches peace. Peace is Islam. There’s religion, there’s tradition, but we should know that we have tradition, and our tradition should not conflict with our faith, there’s no faith or group that do not want peace.
“Nigeria needs peace now, more than ever. So as an ambassador of peace, we should spread that gospel that we need peace in our nation. Peace before any other thing, you must be peaceful before you talk of economy. So we want peace in our nation.” He concluded.
