A foremost industrialist and the Babalaje of Ejigbo Land, Prince Lawal Amuda Yusuff Obelawo, OON, has died at the age of 96.
Prince Obelawo, the Chairman of Obelawo Group of Companies, was widely respected for his entrepreneurial achievements and contributions to community development.
The Ejigbo-born elder statesman rose from humble beginnings as a trader in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, where he started his business journey before building a successful business empire.
Through hard work, resilience and determination, he navigated numerous challenges in the course of his career, eventually establishing himself as one of the notable businessmen from Ejigbo.
As the Babalaje of Ejigbo Land, Obelawo was known for his leadership, philanthropy and commitment to the progress of his community.
He was widely admired for transforming ideas into opportunities and creating wealth by genuinely meeting the needs of the people.
Family members, associates and well-wishers have continued to pay tributes to the late nonagenarian, describing him as a remarkable leader and a man whose life inspired many.
Prince Obelawo is survived by children, grandchildren and other family members.
Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the family.
