The former Vice-President of Nigeria, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar this morning visited the house of the late strongman of Ibadan politics, Alhaji Lamidi Adedibu to commiserate with his widow, Alhaja Modinat Abosede Adedibu who lost her mother on Tuesday night..
It would be recalled that Atiku Abubakar was in Ibadan yesterday on the invitation by the Oyo State government to participate in the commissioning of the remodeled Lekan Salami sports complex, Adamasingba, Ibadan.
However, Atiku upon hearing of Alhaja Bose Adedibu mother’s death decided to stop over at Molete home of Adedibu to condole her over the incident.
The ex-Vice President was accompanied on the visit by former Governors of Adamawa and Niger States, Chief Boni Haruna and Dr Muazu Aliyu Babangida, , Senator Abiodun Olujimi from Ekiti State, Senator Abdul Ningi from Bauchi State, Senator Dino Melaye, Engr Jide Adeniji and private Doctor to Alhaji Atiku, Dr Ndugbe, Mrs Toyin Balogun, South West Woman Leader Amalgamated Atiku Support group and others.
They were received by Alhaja Bose Adedibu, Hon. Akeem Ademola Ige, Special Adviser to the Oyo State Governor on Culture and Tourism, Alhaja Adedibu’s eldest daughter, Teju Adedibu-Babalola, members of Adedibu family and some members of the PDP.
In his remark, Alhaji Abubakar said no matter how old one’s mother is one will never want her to die.
According to him, ” we are here to condole you over the loss of your mother who you told me passed away at the age of 98. Let me on behalf of my delegation formally condole you over this incident.”
“Our visit today has afforded us another opportunity to strengthen our bond of relationship with this family and ourselves individually and collectively in pursuit of peace, progress and unity of our great country. We are all aware of the services rendered by your late husband in ensuring the unity and progress of this country.”
“We will continue to remember him for that and we will continue from where he stopped in ensuring unity and progress of this country. All of us you see here today made his house our house when he was alive and anytime we came to Ibadan we always stand here and feel at home. He gave us a sense of belonging, a sense of unity and brotherhood in leadership.”
“So we will continue to remember him for that and we will continue to do our best to maintain that relationship with this family. So on behalf of all of us we condole you for the loss of your Mum and pray Allah to admit her to paradise.” Alhaji Atiku concluded.
In her reaction, Alhaja Adedibu expressed her profound gratitude to Alhaji Atiku and members of his entourage for founding time to visit her despite the fact that his visit was not the purpose why he came to Ibadan.
Alhaja Adedibu requested Senator Abiodun Olujimi and Mrs Toyin Balogun to specially thank Alhaji Atiku on behalf of her family.
The delegation thereafter visited the grave of late Alhaji Lamidi Adedibu and offered prayer for the repose of his soul.
Alhaja Bose Adedibu’s mother, Alhaja Taibat Akanke Eweyeju died on Tuesday 31st August, 2021 at the age of 98. She was a devout Muslim during her lifetime.
She was buried yesterday at Alhaja Bose father’s house at Eleyele, Ibadan and was survived by Alhaja Bose Adedibu, many grand children and great grand children.
