ASUP, The Oke-Ogun Polytechnic Saki Inaugurates New Exco

Newly elected executives of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), The Oke-Ogun Polytechnic, Saki (TOPS) were during the week sworn-in.

The swearing-in ceremony of the Comrade Lawrence Oluwasanmi Ajiboye led executives took place at the institution’s ASUP Secretariat, and was witnessed by many members of the union.

In his speech at the event, the immediate past Chairman of the union, Comrade George Abiodun Olaleye, gave accounts of stewardship of his administration in the last four years, and expressed hope that the new executives should be more successful and result-oriented.

Comrade Olaleye listed the achievements of his administration to include: sponsorship of members to ASUP Zone C conference, purchase of vehicle for the union, re-roofing of ASUP Secretariat, financial assistance to members during Covid-19 pandemic, financial assistance to families of deceased members, financial assistance to sick members, giving out souvenirs to members, severance packages for retirees.

Others include: payment of DNP arrears, placement of louvers with window casements in all the ASUP Secretariat and doors for the hall section, ensuring the facilitation and implementation of new minimum wage, facilitation of regular promotion of members, and giving out financial assistance to kidnapped ASUP members of OSCATECH, Igboora.

Also in his speech, the new Chairman of the Oke-Ogun Poly ASUP, Comrade Ajiboye, expressed his appreciation to members for giving him the opportunity to serve them, promising to consolidate on Comrade Olaleye’s achievements.

His words: “I am happy for the trust you bestowed on us as the incoming executive committee of this union… We will put in all our best to consolidate the efforts and achievements of all our past predecessors.

“I am sure you would all agree that the outgoing regime has performed wonderfully in the last few years, precisely four years in the history of ASUP TOPS chapter so far, like other regimes.

“In conclusion, it is my pleasure to inform you that the following committees will be in place for the smooth running of the activities of our great union: Advisory committee, Journal committee, Staff club committee, Building committee, Welfare committee, and Conference committee”.
