 Association of Local Government Service Commission Chairmen Hold General Meeting in Abuja

The Association of Chairmen of Local Government Service Commissions across Nigeria on Wednesday held its general meeting in Abuja

The meeting took place at the conference hall of the National Secretariat, located on River Niger Street, AMMSCO Estate, Lokogoma, Abuja. In his welcome address, the Forum Chairman, Hon. Femi Idris of Ondo State, emphasized that the gathering was aimed at strengthening unity, fostering collaboration, and promoting strategic coordination among members.

Present at the meeting were top officials including Ahmad Bala (Kano), Aminu Abubakar (Sokoto), Umaru A. Abubakar (Niger), Hon. Modu Alhaji Musa (Borno), Hon. James Ivever (Benue), Prof. Aminu Ladan Sharehu, OON (Kaduna), Chief R.O. Nwasum (Ebonyi), Chief Simon Tangni (Plateau), Hon. Akinwale Akinwole (Oyo), Hon. A.M. Aliyu (Nasarawa), Hon. Abdulaziz L. Danyari (Katsina), Barr. Nana Ogbodo (Enugu), Comrade Evang. Francis Akhigbe (Edo), Abejide Samuel A. (Ekiti), and Dr. Kenneth Joseph (FCT).

Deliberations at the conference covered a range of topics, including the financial independence of local governments, increased public awareness through strategic media engagement, and the upgrade and commercialization of the association’s secretariat.

The forum also explored participation in international conferences across Africa to foster exchange of ideas and best practices.

The association resolved to intensify zonal engagements and reach out to non-participating states to ensure inclusivity and plans were outlined for upcoming pre-conference meetings to further consolidate the association’s goals
