It was amid funfair on Friday in Ogbomoso as artisans, traders comprising men and women in their thousands joyfully turned out to grace the GSM market marine inauguration which was a show of love and their commitment to the re-election of the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Oluseyi Makinde
The occasion which was held at Ogbomoso Township hall, Oja’gbo, was witnessed by eminent personalities including the council chairmen, Party leaders as well as the PDP Senatorial Candidate, Honorable Akinwale Solomon Akinwole who is fondly called Wolekanle among others.
While addressing the congregation, the progenitor of the GSM marine initiative, Dr. Wasiu Olatubosun who is also the Oyo State Commissioner for information, dwelled on the many achievements of His Excellency, Engineer Oluseyi Abiodun which according to him birthed the GSM market marine.
The honorable Commissioner said the impact of His Excellency in every sector is a confirmation of His Excellency’s staying true to his electioneering campaign promises ranging from education that he made free for both Public Primary and Secondary schools in Oyo state which was implemented almost immediately on his assumption of office as the State Chief Executive officer.
Dr. Olatubosun also stated that the sole ownership of LAUTECH that is being celebrated today, the new look LAUTECH Under-G road is wearing as well as the light-up initiative are testaments to the Governor’s commitment to the well-being of the citizenry.
He expressed his joy at the massive turnout and the cooperation shown by the Council Chairmen in all the five Local Government Areas towards making the occasion a success.
In their submission, the Council Chairmen in the five Local Government areas of Ogbomoso, through the host Chairman of Ogbomoso North Local Government, Hon. Kabiru Ayoade Akanji applauded the marine initiative and further pledged their support to the continuous emancipation drive of His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde.
They urged the artisans across the zone to not relent in their belief in the Seyi Makinde-led administration as that is the only way the breeze of excellence can be retained for the benefit of all.
In his address, the PDP Oyo North Senatorial Candidate, Hon. Akinwale Akinwole used to occasion to recount the many benefits Ogbomoso as a zone still stands to enjoy under Governor Makinde’s re-election success. He, therefore, called on all the stakeholders present to support the Governor and ensure that all the PDP candidates in the forthcoming general election come out victorious.
Akinwole stated that Ogbomoso cashew cannot be compared to any other in West Africa and that if it is well managed it can on its own attract lots of development to the land by procuring job opportunities and reduce the spate of unemployment.
In their separate remarks, the artisans unanimously threw their support behind Governor Makinde whom they scored above 90%, and prayed for the continuation of his life-transformation programmes beyond 2023.
Present at the occasion were the market leaders in Ogbomoso South, North, Surulere, Ogo-Oluwa, Oriire, the honorable commissioner for information and his team; the Party leaders, the Council Chairmen; the LCDAS Administrative Heads, members of the artisans and traders from the zone.
