President of the ARA Foundation and Empowerment Initiative, Ambassador Chief Ademola Oyepeju Ara, has called on Nigerian politicians to stop using religion as a tool for manipulation and to focus instead on initiatives that promote genuine service to humanity and national development.
Speaking with Journalists in Ibadan, Ambassador Ara, who also serves as the Chairman of Alwajeez International Nigeria Ltd., criticized the growing trend of mixing politics with religion, describing it as a major obstacle to the nation’s progress.
He urged political leaders to rise above religious and tribal sentiments, emphasizing that governance should be about improving the lives of citizens rather than advancing personal or sectarian interests.
“Politicians should place service to humanity above religious sentiments. Politics should not be about religion or tribe; it should be about humanity. Until we stop that nonsense, we won’t move forward as a nation,” he said.
Ambassador Ara also questioned the value of donating large sums of money to religious centres while neglecting basic community needs such as good roads, education, and healthcare.
“I wonder what impact money donated to religious centres will have in society when the road leading to those worship centres is not even good,” he added.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the ARA Foundation to continue empowering youths, supporting education, and promoting initiatives that foster unity and sustainable development across Nigeria.
Speaking on this year Ara Foundation empowerment, Amb, Oyepeju said we are increasing numbers of beneficiaries and items to be distributed to people.
