Mombasa governor Abdulswamad Nasir while speaking at a media briefing said the county has embarked on immediate measures including the employment of 54 nurses to be deployed at various hospitals as well as putting, all Mombasa county community health volunteers CHV’s under stipend till July this year.
“We have witnessed in the recent rise in diarrhea among children below 18 years, after sample testing. We have established that there is Rota Virus in Mombasa that is affecting children under 18 years,” said Nassir.
The governor also announced the launch of vaccination for the virus for all children and tasked the Department of public health to conduct the exercise in all public hospitals.
