The youths have been at the forefront of rallying support and mobilizing for sociopolitical development of their various communities in the recent time, they firmly believe that they are no longer the leaders of tomorrow but that of today and they are leaving no stone unturned to make some differences.
The drive to to encourage inclusive and decisive development in the ancient town of Ògbómòsọ́ brought some young Nigerians together as they launched a progressive movement called Alliance for Ogbomoso Development (AFOD), an organization aimed at mobilizing Ògbómòsọ́ people at home and in diaspora across political parties and all sphere of endeavors for the development of the hometown.
One of the conveners, Mr. Shittu Olaitan noted in his introductory remark that members of the group should drop their political differences and be ready to work in unity for the greatness of Ogbomoso.
He said the politics of acrimony been played by some individuals within the town has caused the people a whole lot of opportunities, he therefore argued that the strength of the youths is their population and they are ready to utilize that to their advantage.
Buttressing the above point, Mr. Stephen Adegboyega who was adopted as Interim Coordinator of the group pointed out that politics can be used to construct and destruct, the gladiators and players would determine the usage and the usage would determine the outcome. He further added that everyone within the organization is a leader and they should be ready to render their services to the Development of Ogbomoso.
A leading personality in the group, Engr. Ayanda Gabriel shared his experience on how many fortunes have eluded Ogbomoso town because of lack of dedication and commitment on the path of many indigenous people, he told the audience that Ògbómòsọ́ is our Jerusalem and we should always seek for it greatness.
Engr. Gbodeniyi Wasiu raised a concern about how the group would be sustained beyond creation, Hon. Aremu John shared in this sentiment and urge commitment on the path of the group members, he also nominated Mr. Ogunwoye Samson as the interim Publicity Secretary.
The group unanimously agreed to work in collaboration and form synergy with other groups within and outside Ogbomoso for the sake development of their community.
