Aliyu Jelani , a world acclaimed Nigerian auto designer has presented the first electric car in the country.
The sokoto born auto designers
designed cars for world automobile giant GM Motors .
He was a senior creative designer at GM, until his appointment as the Director general of the Nigerian Automotive Design and Development Council in 2017 by Nigerian president Muhammadu Buhariyou
Notable among is works include pontiac G6 and Chevrolet Volt.
He attended FGC Sokoto and proceeded studied Architecture at the Birnin-Kebbi Polytechnic and later to
College for Creative Studies in Michigan.
According to him, Automotive design is part of Industrial design, which is a fascinating field, in its purest and most useful form it is a tool for survival and economic growth, dealing with the challenges that people face every day and coming up with solutions to them, which are for the most part physical products or systems that empower people and make life easier, they also enhance relationships and interactions within humanity and between humanity and the environment
At the ongoing National Trade Fair for Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states holding in Sokoto, the 55 year old Jelani presented the car to Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal
