Aareonakakanfo of Yoruba land,Iba Gani Abiodun Ige Adams has described the 20-year reign of Oba of Lagos,His Royal Majesty,Oba Rilwan Aremu Akiolu as a blessing to Lagosians,adding that the Lagos monarch brought dignity to the revered stool.
Aare Gani Adams,in a statement by his Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Aderemi,said history had favoured Lagos state with various monarchs,insisting that Oba Akiolu remains one of the major drivers of today’s progress in Lagos.
The Yoruba generalissimo stated also that the foremost traditional ruler in Lagos has provided the needed leadership by ensuring that Lagos remains peaceful.
“In his 20 -year reign as Oba of Lagos,Oba Rilwan Aremu Akiolu has succeeded in expanding the frontiers of Lagos beyond island, making tremendous impact in the new idea of projecting Lagos as a foremost city in Nigeria.
“Oba Rilwan Akiolu has continued to represent the enduring legacies of his predecessors and that the traditional institution in Lagos state remains a source of inspiration to all.
“Oba Akiolu’s exemplary lifestyle as the most respected Oba in Lagos is inspirational.It is actually a result of great Leadership in the traditional institution.
“When a traditional ruler chooses peace instead of war, appreciates progress and development instead of crisis and also build strong bond and relationships across board and even beyond borders.Then you can understand the reason for the success of his reign.
“And that is what brings about the development and progress we talk about today in Lagos.
“Lagos is what it is today as a frontline state because Lagosians didn’t ignore their tradition.Oba Rilwan Akiolu has been consistent in ensuring that Yoruba culture and tradition remains at the forefront.
“And as the Aareonakakanfo of Yoruba land,I know how far Kabiesi has gone in seeking a peaceful Lagos state.I know his commitment towards sustaining the rich culture of the people of Lagos.And I always commend his efforts and sagacity in driving the Lagos dream and the dream of all the people in the state.
“As I have said,20 -year reign in the life of a traditional ruler is no joke.
Also in the life of his subjects, however,Kabiesi Oba Akiolu has been graciously wonderful and peaceful.
“He has taken over the leadership of the traditional institution of Lagos state with unprecedented character and mien and that is why Lagos is progressing till date.
“On this special occasion of his 20th anniversary on the throne,I wish His Royal Majesty, Kabiesi Oba Rilwan Aremu Akiolu well with good health and sound mind, so that he can continue to be the inspiration for all the monarchs in the state.
