The Distinguished Senator representing Oyo Central Senatorial District, Dr. Yunus Akintunde, has congratulated His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Senator) Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, Arusa I, on his historic coronation as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.
In a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Kunle Olatunji, Senator Akintunde described Oba Ladoja’s ascension to the revered throne as a unique and divinely ordained process that heralds unprecedented development for Ibadanland, one of Africa’s largest traditional cities.
According to him, “This is an unprecedented coronation in many respects. Kabiyesi, His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Senator) Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, Arusa I, is not only a Pacesetter and first-class traditional ruler but also a foremost administrator at the highest levels of public service—having served as a former Governor of Oyo State, a distinguished Senator of the Federal Republic, a successful business mogul, and a trained engineer. His journey through the unique and structured traditional succession process of Ibadan stands as a testament to the city’s globally acclaimed traditional monarchical system.”
Reflecting on his personal relationship with the new monarch, Senator Akintunde said:
> “It is with nostalgia that I recall my close bond with Baba, as we fondly call him. I have been part of his political dynasty, and today I rejoice that his long-desired aspiration to ascend the Olubadan throne has finally come to fruition, capping his many sterling achievements.”
The Senator further extolled Oba Ladoja’s resilience and divine grace:
> “Kabiyesi, you are unique in many ways, with a Midas touch in all your endeavors. God has sustained you beyond human comprehension, even in the face of unimaginable adversities and traducers.”
Expressing optimism about the new reign, he noted:
> “There is no doubt that your enthronement will usher Ibadan into an era of unprecedented progress and transformation, given your enviable wealth of experience, exposure, and antecedents. The electrifying love, jubilation, and unity witnessed across Ibadanland in the past weeks are unmatched in our history.”
Senator Akintunde joined the sons and daughters of Ibadanland in rejoicing with the monarch, praying for long life, excellent health, and a prosperous reign.
