Being a civil engineer, he also announced half of the equivalent of $100 to the best graduating student from the Department of Civil Engineering.

He thanked the institution and the faculty for the honor given to him. He said that the award came when he has decided not to take award again. He added that he couldn’t reject this award because of where it’s coming from.

His words: “This award is coming when I have decided not to take any award again. But because of where this is coming from, I have to accept it.

“At the end of the second semester2024/2025 assessment, the overall best student will get the value of $100 from me. Why I used the dollar is because of the instability of the exchange rate. If I promised N50,000 now, perhaps next year, it may not have the same value as it is today. And I want this to be an annual award.

“Sentiment a beat, the overall best student might not come from Civil Engineering department, so whoever comes best in Civil engineering for 2024/2025 academic session will also get half of whatever the person that got overall gets.”

Open Salawu, the Waziri Jari of Nupe Kingdom was awarded alongside Sir Chief Theophilus Adebowale Omotosho, Chairman, Bond Chemical Industries Limited, Engineer Olatubosun Adeonipekun Adesina, General Manager, Transmission Company of Nigeria, Hon Busoye Ogunlade, Chairman, Oyo State Road Maintenance Agency and others.
