The Vice-Chancellor of Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo, Prof. Timothy Adebayo, has described the Mind Education programme, which was integrated into the university’s curriculum as a highly impactful initiative that is already producing positive outcomes for the university.

Speaking at the close of a three-day Mind Education Camp, coordinated by the Dean of the Faculty of Education, Prof. Ronke Ogunmakin, with a team of Mind Educators from South Korea, the Vice-Chancellor noted that although the programme was introduced at the university two years ago, it has been active in South Korea since 2001 and is now implemented in several countries across Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas.
He said, “Mind Education is a transformative initiative that enables young people to re-evaluate and rediscover values that are essential for unity and peaceful co-existence.

He recalled that he participated in an international education conference in Seoul, South Korea, in 2023, where educators from around the world discussed the role of Mind Education in national development. Adebayo said he returned with the commitment to bring the programme to Ajayi Crowther University.

“I discussed the idea with Prof. Ogunmakin, who had also attended World Education Summit before, and with the university management. We agreed that beyond development the positive mental development of our students, Mind Education could play a significant role in promoting national values,” he said.

According to the Vice-Chancellor, the university is already seeing the benefits. Mind Education is now one of the three certificates awarded to students upon graduation.

“I can confidently say that this programme has significantly improved the emotional intelligence of our students. They now show greater emotional control, patience, and resilience in their interactions. They have also demonstrated better decision-making skills and mental discipline,” he explained.

He expressed appreciation to the South Korean team for their continued commitment to the university and praised Prof. Ogunmakin for her dedication in coordinating the programme.

“The Korean team has been consistent in their support, regularly returning to train our students. Thanks to their collaboration with Prof. Ogunmakin, Mind Education has become one of the distinguishing features of our institution,” he added.
