After 32 Years, Igboora Progress Union Makes Historic Comeback

Prominent indigenes of Igboora, Ibarapa Central headquarters, erupted in joy as the Igboora Progress Union was reborn, ending a 32-year hiatus and rekindling collective hopes.

An interim steering committee led by Pastor Alex Oladeji was inaugurated for the union at its general assembly on Saturday, December 27.

The IPU, once the apex association driving Igboora’s development, collapsed in 1993, leaving a leadership vacuum despite several unsuccessful revival efforts over the decades.

The long-awaited revival finally materialised in December 2025, signalling a renewed commitment to unity, progress and organised community development among Igboora sons and daughters.

Mr Sola Adeleke, the Chairman, Ibarapa Central Local Government, congratulated Igboora indigenes, elders, youths and friends on what he described as a historic rebirth.

Adeleke said the IPU’s return reflected readiness for collective progress, stressing that united efforts would make sustainable community advancement inevitable for Igboora.

He pledged his administration’s partnership with the IPU, traditional institutions and stakeholders, calling for sustained unity, responsibility, service and shared commitment to development.

The council boss noted that a vibrant IPU would guarantee improved infrastructure, welfare, inclusive growth and a secured future for present and coming generations.

Present at the meeting were the Olu of Igboora, Oba Jimoh Titiloye, Olu-Aso of Iberekodo land, Oba Adedamola Badmus, Baba-Aso of Igbole land, Oba Olusanjo Ojo, Onisagan-un of Sagan-un land , Oba Adekunle Jinadu, Onidofin of Idofinland, Oba Samuel Adeleye and Jagun of Pako, High Chief Moyofola Ajibode

The traditional rulers in their separate remarks, expressed deep satisfaction over the rebirth of IPU, describing the union’s rebirth as timely and crucial to restoring coordinated leadership and harmony.

They all pledged royal support and collaboration with IPU for community progress, affirming their readiness to guide, protect and strengthen the reborn union.

Earlier, Oladeji described the moment as historic, divinely inspired and the fulfilment of a long-cherished collective dream.

Oladeji recalled the union’s past achievements, admitting challenges stalled progress, but declared the rebirth a turning point marked by renewed hope, cohesion and action.

He stressed the need to leverage accomplished Igboora indigenes worldwide, promising servant leadership, transparent and accountable leadership.

Oladeji said that the committee was committed to rebuilding trust, unity and credibility while laying foundations for sustainable development across Igboora communities.

He urged all sons and daughters, home and abroad, to forgive past grievances, support action teams and jointly restore Igboora’s dignity, peace and promising future.
