A former Zonal Public Relations Officer and Zonal Vice President of the National Association of Nigerian Travel Agencies (NANTA), Otunba Babatunde Adesokan, has formally declared his intention to contest for the position of National Public Relations Officer at the association’s forthcoming Annual General Meeting scheduled to hold in Ibadan.
In a statement addressed to distinguished members of the association, Adesokan said his decision followed deep reflection, a strong sense of responsibility and commitment to the growth of NANTA.
He noted that having served two terms as Zonal Public Relations Officer and two terms as Zonal Vice President, he has gained valuable institutional insight into the strengths, challenges and vast potential of the association.
According to him, his years of service have reinforced his conviction that strategic communication is not merely an administrative function but a leadership responsibility.
Adesokan stressed that in an era where perception shapes influence and opportunity, NANTA must speak with clarity, credibility and authority. He added that the association’s image must reflect its true value, while its advocacy must be deliberate and its voice resonate within and beyond the travel industry.
If elected, he pledged to reposition NANTA’s public image, institutionalise consistent and professional communication standards, strengthen stakeholder engagement across government, airlines, partners and the media, promote unity among members, and elevate the association’s visibility as the authoritative voice of travel professionals in Nigeria.
Highlighting his background in journalism and years of active service within NANTA’s leadership structure, Adesokan expressed confidence in his ability to approach the office with maturity, discipline and collaborative leadership.
Describing his aspiration as one driven by service rather than title, he appealed to members for their support and trust, promising to advance the voice of every member through a unified and dignified communication platform.
