Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic Students Hold Maiden 10KM Marathon Race

The Faculty of Communication and Management Studies of Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa organized its first marathon race in conjunction with the Sports Office of the institution.

The first-of-its-kind program started at the school gate by 7am in the early hours of Wednesday 24th May 2023.

Speaking at the program, the Chairman, Sports Advisory Council of the institution, Engr. Wole Ayanrinde appreciated the organizer of the event and the management of the institution for a great job. He equally charged all participants to remain focused because Olympic is not to win but to participate.

“I’m Engr. Wole Ayanrinde, the Chairman, Sports Advisory Council of this great institution–Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa. The event of today tagged “10km Marathon Race” is the first of its kind, and one thing that makes me glad is that coincidentally, we just had our first convocation ceremony – an important and epoch-event – just a few days ago. Now, we are having our first marathon race organized by the Faculty of Communication and Management Studies (FACMAS) in conjunction with Sport Office of this institution.”

“Let me start by giving kudos to the management of this institution and the Dean of Faculty of Communication and Management Studies for the job well done. Since I have assumed this office, we have enjoyed great support from the present management ably led by Dr. Gbade Akinteye, ln fact, the sponsorship to NIPOGA was magnanimous. By the grace of God, we will be hosting the technical executives of all tertiary institutions in Oyo State(OYSTIGA) in our institution by 31st of this month.”

Speaking further, he said, ” This event is one of its kind and I want to encourage and appreciate all the participants to put more effort in the area of training. I appreciate the Faculty of Communication and Management Studies executives, coaching crew of the institution led by Coach Abegunde Elijah, Medical team, Security Office and most importantly, members of Sports Advisory council; they have been supportive.”

The Deputy Rector of the institution, Mr Oladeji A.O. also appreciated the organizer of the FACMAS marathon race with all the coaching crew and the Sport Office of the institution.

“The marathon race is one of its kind on the campus of Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa. Of course, it will promote the institution. I give kudos to the Dean of FACMAS, the faculty executive members, and all the students under the faculty.
“Students should get encouraged to do more on campus because they are bunch of talent. I want to seize this moment to implore the Sports Office to organize more sport activities and enroll worthy students for state and national sport competitions.”

The 1st female winner, Odebode Jumoke from Computer Engineering department appreciated God Almighty for the gift of life. According to her, she never thought of winning the race but tried all her possible best to emerge as the winner. She encouraged her female colleagues to put in all their best in all they do.

1st male winner, Babajide Tunde Abudulramon, from Mass Communication department ND 2, also expressed his appreciation to Almighty God for the grace he received. He equally advised others not to look down on themselves but pray for grace in all they do.
