Student leaders from higher institutions across Osun State on Saturday declared support for Governor Ademola Adeleke’s second-term bid, applauding his administration’s performance and reforms in less than three years.
At a gathering inside the Banquet Hall of the Government House, student representatives under the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Osun Joint Campus Council (JCC), and the National Association of Osun State Students (NAOSS) gave the governor high ratings in governance, infrastructure, and welfare delivery.
Comrade Ayobami Solomon Abel, chairman of NANS JCC, Osun Axis, praised Adeleke’s administration for what he described as its “visible impact” across the state.
> “Even the blind can see the good work of this administration,” he said. “We are not here for praise singing, but to acknowledge the reality that Governor Adeleke has performed better in less than three years than the APC did in 12 years.”
NAOSS President, Comrade Adedibu Mustafa Akinsumbo, listed achievements in agriculture, education, health, workers’ welfare, rural development, sports, and cooperative empowerment, saying Osun had witnessed “unprecedented growth” under Adeleke.
> “Farmers, workers, artisans, and students have endorsed you because of your exceptional performance,” he told the governor. “We, your children, appreciate your love for the people and pledge our support now and in the future.”
The student leaders, who intermittently broke into solidarity songs, chorused in Yoruba: “Adeleke, ma ba sere lo, ise re ma ntewa lorun o” (“Adeleke, continue your good work. We are satisfied with your governance”).
Responding, Governor Adeleke expressed gratitude for the endorsements, saying the recognition from students and other groups strengthens his commitment to governance.
> “People and God are my support base,” he said. “We thank workers, farmers, artisans, market leaders, students, and youths for appreciating our contributions to state development. By God’s grace, we will do even more.”
The governor announced the approval of two coastal buses for NANS and NAOSS, a technical assessment of campus internal roads, and urgent attention to bursary awards. He also promised to strengthen the Office of Students Affairs under his office.
> “We will not take your support for granted,” Adeleke assured. “In the nearest future, I hope to score an extra A-plus from the present A rating you have given me.”
The event capped weeks of public endorsements for Adeleke’s administration from workers, farmers, artisans, and other stakeholders across the state.
