The Acting Rector of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, Dr. Taiwo Abideen Lasisi, has extended warm Eid-el-Kabir greetings to staff and students of the institution, urging them to celebrate the festival responsibly and in line with Islamic teachings.
In a goodwill message personally signed by him, Dr. Lasisi described Eid-el-Kabir, also known as the Ileya Festival, as a deeply significant celebration in the Islamic faith that reinforces the values of obedience, sacrifice, and trust in Allah.
“The essence of the festival, which is total submission to the will of Allah, should not be lost in the excitement of the celebrations,” he stated. “I encourage our students, especially, to celebrate responsibly and avoid actions that are contrary to the teachings of Islam. Let youthful exuberance not overshadow our faith and discipline.”
The Acting Rector also expressed appreciation to the staff and students for their continued cooperation and support since his assumption of office. He commended the dedication of the Polytechnic community to the progress of the institution.
Dr. Lasisi took the opportunity to thank the Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, for his unwavering support for the institution. He acknowledged the Governor’s commitment to both the financial and moral well-being of the Polytechnic, noting the consistent payment of staff salaries on the 25th of every month and the provision of funds for equipment and facilities necessary for the accreditation of academic programmes.
“We are deeply grateful to Governor Makinde for the opportunity to serve and for his steadfast support towards the development of The Polytechnic, Ibadan,” Dr. Lasisi said.
The Acting Rector concluded his message by wishing all Muslims a peaceful and joyous Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
