Pharm. Ambrose Ezeh, National Chairman of the Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria (ACPN), has officially endorsed the Geneith Health Competition — an initiative by Geneith Pharmaceuticals aimed at combating malaria among Nigerian youths.
Pharm. Ezeh gave his endorsement during a courtesy visit to Geneith Pharmaceuticals headquarters in Lagos on Tuesday. He lauded the initiative as a “groundbreaking effort” to address malaria, which remains a leading health challenge, particularly among students in tertiary institutions.
“The fight against malaria is a collective responsibility,” Ezeh emphasized. “It requires active collaboration between government agencies, private firms, and community stakeholders to develop sustainable and innovative health interventions.”
He cited the alarming statistic that over 95% of students who visit health centers in Nigerian tertiary institutions are diagnosed with malaria, underlining the urgent need for youth-centered health advocacy.
The courtesy visit was attended by key stakeholders, including Mr. Umenwa Emmanuel, MD/CEO of Geneith Pharmaceuticals; Prince Cletus Ilobanafor, MD/CEO of CEOAfrica; and members of the Geneith team — Pharm. Udeh Judith, Principal Manager (Marketing); Pharm. Okechukwu Simeon, AGM (Sales); and Pharm. Bimbo Bowoto, AGM (Sales & Marketing) — all of whom reaffirmed their commitment to the anti-malaria cause.
Mr. Emmanuel noted that Geneith’s decision to sponsor the competition was part of its corporate social responsibility and long-standing commitment to public health.
“We believe that empowering young people is key to winning the fight against malaria,” he said. “Our goal is to encourage awareness, prevention, and innovation among students who are the future leaders of this nation.”
Prince Cletus Ilobanafor also praised the competition, describing it as a historic milestone in youth-led health advocacy.
“This is the largest health competition of its kind in Africa,” Ilobanafor noted. “It is designed to turn students into malaria ambassadors who will drive awareness and change in their communities.”
He called on other public-spirited individuals and organizations to emulate Geneith’s example and support health campaigns that place youth at the center of community transformation.
The Geneith Health Competition, supported by Coatal Forte Softgel, seeks to empower students to champion malaria prevention through creative solutions, public engagement, and peer education. It stands as a beacon of hope for a future where malaria is no longer a major public health threat.
