Chief Mathias Jawachi Achinike has emerged as the new Ezendigbo of Ibadan land and Oyo state following a screening and election by the Oyo state Ohanaeze Ndigbo and the Igbo community Development Association (ICDA) today.
The President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo and Oyo state/ICDA Chief Ndidi Nzeako stated that Chief Achinike who hails from Agbaja in Nwagele local government of Imo state and who is also the Ebube Imo of Oyo state has been unanimously elected as the new Ezendigbo of Ibadan land and Oyo state.
Chief Nzeako said that the Ezendigbo emerged as the consensus candidate due to his impeccable character and integrity despite what seemed like distraction here and there after about over two which the late Ezendigbo of Ibadan land and Oyo state passed on.
Recalled that the late Ezendigbo Eze Dr Alex Chukwudum Anozie passed on during a brief illness in September 23,2023.
The Ohanaeze Ndigbo/ ICDA boss explained that he was thoroughly happy that a new Ezendigbo has emerged after due process following the death of Eze Dr Alex Chukwudum Anozie, the late Ezendigbo of Ibadan and Oyo state.
Speaking at the occasion the new Ezendigbo of Ibadan land and Oyo state Chief Jawachi explained that he felt fulfilled and elated after he emerged as the new Ezendigbo of Ibadan land and Oyo state adding that this came into fruition despite he did not lobby nor jostle for the coveted position stressing that he would commend the Eze in Council for doing a diligent job without any financial consideration or sentiment.
The new Ezendigbo said that his major task for him would be the peaceful unification of Ndigbo through out Oyo state noting that he would need the Eze for in Council in this regard.
He explained that he would need all hands to be on deck as the task at hand requires the Eze In Council among others to join hands with him .
