Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has approved the construction of several strategic road projects in Sagamu Local Government Area, including the Sagamu–Ode Road, Fadebo Street Road, Ajaka Road, and the Likosi–Ogijo Road, underscoring his administration’s commitment to infrastructure development as a driver of economic growth.
The governor made this known on Thursday while commissioning the newly completed Sagamu–Ayepe Road, describing quality road infrastructure as essential for boosting economic activities, improving connectivity, and accelerating overall development.
Governor Abiodun said his administration would continue to prioritise road construction and rehabilitation across the state, despite inheriting a huge backlog of dilapidated and abandoned infrastructure.
“Road infrastructure is a critical economic enabler. This road links Sagamu to Odogbolu and several densely populated communities, making it a vital economic corridor. That is why we considered it a priority,” he said.
He noted that many roads in Ogun State had suffered prolonged neglect over the years, adding that while significant progress has been made, several others still require urgent intervention.
Beyond road projects, the governor said his administration has recorded major achievements in key sectors such as health, education, housing, and sports, stressing that the focus remains on delivering tangible dividends of democracy to residents.
“We will not be distracted by rabble-rousers. Our priority is governance and improving the quality of life of our people,” Abiodun stated.
Earlier, the Chairman of Sagamu Local Government Area, Hon. Jubril Odulate, said the Ayepe Road, which connects Sagamu with neighbouring local governments, had been abandoned for years and left in a deplorable state before the state government’s intervention.
He added that the reconstruction aligns with the state’s ISEYA development agenda, noting that the local government had also contributed by constructing the Awokoya Road.
Representing the Akarigbo of Remoland, Oba Musliu Soile described the project as a major relief to residents, saying it would ease transportation challenges and enhance commercial activities in the area.
Similarly, the National President of the Amalgamated Commercial Motorcycle, Repairer and Riders Association (ACOMORAN), Alhaji Shamseeden Apelogun, praised the state government, noting that the improved road network would reduce hardship for riders, stimulate economic activities, and attract investment to the community.
