Aare Onakakanfo Of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Abiodun Ige Adams, has described the death of the late Oniru of Iru land, Oba Idowu Abiodun Oniru, as a great loss.
Adams expressed sadness over the death of the monarch , even as he prayed for the repose of the soul.
The Aareonakakanfo, in a statement, by his Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Aderemi, on Thursday, described the late monarch as a true custodian of Yoruba culture.
“It is with a heavy heart that I join the good people of Lagos, and the Iru land in particular to mourn the death of one of our revered monarch, the late Oniru, who joined his ancestors last Monday”
“Though, it was a great loss, I am happy the monarch lived a worthy life. He was a true custodian of Yoruba culture and he would be missed greatly by the people”
Iba Gani Adams spoke about the various qualities of the late monarch, saying the late Oniru, in his life, did everything to bring development to the Iru Kingdom.
“Baba will definitely lived in the minds of so many people, especially, as he used his position and influence to transformed the entire Iru land, Victoria Island, Lagos, making it one of the most industrialized towns in Lagos state”
“During his reign, Iru land was peaceful and that truly accounted for the rapid development in the area”
The traditional rites on the demise of the monarch have started, while the Palace and the people are still mourning the death of the late monarch.
The late Oba Idowu Abiodun Oniru died on Monday, aged 82.
