The Jagun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Engr. Jubril Dotun Sanusi otherwise known as ‘JDS’ has felicitated with Isese practitioners on the occasion of their annual celebration.
He commended Governor Seyi Makinde for declaring a public holiday to mark the Isese day, describing it as a bold and commendable move.
A statement by Sanusi, the CEO of Ilaji Hotel and Sport Resort, Akanran, Ibadan praised the governor for recognizing the significance of the Isese culture and its importance to the people of Oyo State.
Sanusi noted that the Isese tradition is an integral part of the state’s cultural heritage and should be preserved and promoted.
He expressed delight at the governor’s commitment to promoting cultural diversity and inclusivity in the state.
Isese Day is been celebrated on August 20th of every year, coinciding with the Yoruba calendar.
The celebration involves various activities, including: rituals and sacrifices to the Orisa, traditional dances and music, art exhibitions and cultural display, lectures and symposia on Yoruba culture and tradition, traditional food and drinks.
Isese Day is a celebration of Yoruba culture, tradition, and spirituality, and its recognition as a public holiday in Oyo State marks an important milestone in the preservation and promotion of Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage.
