Oyo Flaunts Amotekun’s Strength as Terrorists Wreak Havoc in Neighbouring Kwara

Speaking with Nigerian Tribune correspondent Soji Ajibola, the Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, described the development in Kwara as “very troubling” and urged that it be “tackled decisively.”

Prince Oyelade noted that Oyo has taken a proactive approach to security, maintaining strong collaboration with law enforcement agencies, including the Army, Air Force, and Police. He emphasised that the state’s Amotekun Corps remains the most fortified in the Southwest.

“Oyo State’s Amotekun has 181 vehicles, 450 motorcycles, and over 2,500 personnel — the largest in the Southwest,” he stated.

The Commissioner further disclosed that the State Executive Council, under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde, has approved the procurement of two surveillance aircraft equipped with modern monitoring technology. These aircraft, he explained, will assist Amotekun in tracking the movements and activities of terrorists and illegal miners, thereby enhancing efforts to safeguard lives and property across the state.
