Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Oke Ogun in Oyo State have thrown their weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement was made during a high-level stakeholders’ meeting on Tuesday, held at Ado Awaye in Iseyin Local Government Area. The session was presided over by the former Deputy Governor of Oyo State and APC state leader, Barrister Iyiola Oladokun.

At the meeting, party stakeholders from Iseyin, Itesiwaju, Kajola, and Iwajowa Federal Constituency unanimously praised President Tinubu for what they described as a “landmark decision” to establish the Federal University in Oke Iho, the first federal institution in the entire Oke Ogun region comprising ten local government areas.

“We are grateful to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the University, the first federal institution in the entire ten local governments in Oke Ogun,” the leaders declared in a joint statement. “His progressive stance on equitable development has restored hope to a region neglected by past administrations.”

The APC chieftains also lauded the efforts of key figures such as Professor Ayodeji Gbadegesin, Senator Fatai Buhari, and Barrister Ahmed Raji (SAN), for their roles in ensuring the realization of the university project.

They noted that President Tinubu’s achievements in less than two years in office—including his efforts to offset foreign debts, stabilize the economy, strengthen the Naira, improve revenue allocations to states and local governments, and tackle insecurity—are signs of a leader deserving of re-election.

“President Tinubu has made bold steps to curb herders’ encroachment on farmlands, address farmer killings, and prosecute those responsible for the raping of women in rural areas,” the communique read. “He has also shown firm commitment to ending kidnappings and insurgency. These are not small feats.”

The leaders took a swipe at elements sabotaging national progress, calling on them to reconsider their actions in the interest of Nigeria’s unity and growth.

In addition, they celebrated the wave of defections from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC across Oke Ogun, attributing it to the visible performance of the Tinubu administration.

The APC leaders announced that their campaign for Tinubu’s re-election would intensify, with a larger meeting of stakeholders from all 10 local governments in Oke Ogun scheduled to hold on June 30, 2025, in Igboho. The meeting will also be chaired by Chief Iyiola Oladokun.

Expected attendees at the forthcoming gathering include party chairmen and secretaries, youth and women leaders, current and former legislators, commissioners, heads of service, past and present political appointees, and APC executives at all levels.

They reaffirmed their commitment to mobilize grassroots support for President Tinubu, adding that Oke Ogun will remain a stronghold for the APC come 2027.
