Team Nigeria Para-athletes have made a remarkable showing at the ongoing World Para Athletics (WPA) Grand Prix in Tunis, Tunisia, winning a total of 15 medals — comprising 10 gold, 3 silver, and 2 bronze — as of Day Two of the international event.
The competition, which ends on Wednesday, has seen Nigerian athletes dominate various track and field categories. The country’s participation was made possible through sponsorship from the National Sports Commission (NSC), chaired by Mallam Shehu Dikko with Hon. Bukola Olopade serving as Director General.
The medals were secured across multiple classifications, highlighting the strength and depth of Nigeria’s para-athletic talent.

President of the Paralympic Committee Nigeria (PCN), Sunday Odebode, commended the athletes for their performance, describing it as “inspiring” and a “clear demonstration of resilience and patriotism.”
“We have to be grateful to the National Sports Commission for its sponsorship. Their investment is not in vain. Our athletes are flying the Nigerian flag high and making the country proud. We look forward to more victories before the event ends,” Odebode stated.
The 2025 WPA Grand Prix in Tunis continues until June 19, with Team Nigeria expected to further improve its medal haul in the final events.
