The Soun of Ogbomosoland, His Imperial Majesty Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye Orumogege III, has congratulated Bashorun Akinwale Akinwole, fondly known as Wolekanle, on his recent appointment as Chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Service Commission.
In a congratulatory message signed by his Special Assistant on Media and Community Relations, Rev’d Peter Olaleye, Oba Olaoye described the appointment as well-deserved, citing Wolekanle’s impactful track record in politics and community development.
“Congratulations on your appointment as the Chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Service Commission,” the monarch stated. “It is an appointment well-deserved based on your antecedents. As a politician, you have stamped your feet successfully in the political landscape, not just in Ogbomosoland but across Oyo State.”
The royal father also praised Wolekanle’s achievements beyond politics, highlighting his contributions to sports and hospitality.
“He is making commendable contributions in other areas. I am aware of his football club which is ruffling feathers at the national level. He is also a successful investor, with a thriving hospitality business in Ogbomoso. He is the kind of subject any monarch worth his salt will cherish,” Oba Olaoye added.
The Soun emphasized Wolekanle’s alignment with his developmental vision for Ogbomoso, noting his role in the maiden edition of the Ogbomoso Cradle Carnival held last December.
“It is also noteworthy to acknowledge his significant role in the staging of the Ogbomoso Cradle Carnival. As a member of the organising committee, he made meaningful contributions, which indicates his alignment with my 25-year development plan for Ogbomoso.”
Oba Olaoye urged Wolekanle to distinguish himself in his new role and remain committed to community service.
“I charge him to carry out his responsibilities with dedication and not relent in his service to humanity and our land. He must justify the confidence reposed in him,” the monarch advised.
The Soun also expressed appreciation to Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, for appointing sons and daughters of Ogbomosoland into key positions in his administration.
“We are grateful to His Excellency for all the appointments given to our people. However, we are Oliver Twist—we want more, especially government-backed developments in our region,” Oba Olaoye said.
