Ogbomoso Residents Celebrate Soun’s Victory at Appeal Court

Jubilation erupted in Ogbomoso on Monday as residents took to the streets to celebrate the Appeal Court ruling upholding the selection and installation of His Imperial Majesty, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, as the Soun of Ogbomoso.

The appellate court’s decision affirmed Oba Olaoye as the legitimate Soun Orumogege III, putting to rest months of legal disputes surrounding his ascension. However, Kabir Olaoye, the appellant who challenged the selection process, has expressed dissatisfaction with the ruling and is set to appeal the judgment at the Supreme Court.

and other stakeholders led a grand procession from his private residence at Orita Naira to the palace, where a thanksgiving and prayer session was held. A massive crowd of jubilant residents joined the monarch in celebration, singing and dancing in gratitude.

At the palace, the traditional ruler, visibly elated, joined his people in a spirited display of appreciation, thanking God for the victory. The event was marked by drumming, chants of praise, and an atmosphere of festivity, reflecting the deep connection between the monarch and the people of Ogbomoso.

 His Imperial Majesty, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye in his remark expressed profound gratitude to God while reaffirming his confidence in the Nigerian judicial system.

The monarch described the moment as a time of deep reflection on God’s boundless mercy, emphasizing that his victory is a testament to divine faithfulness. He led a thanksgiving and worship session, dancing in celebration of what he called the fulfillment of God’s promises.

“With renewed faith, I reaffirm my trust in the Nigerian judicial system, believing that justice will always prevail. I lift my voice in prayer, seeking prosperity for my people and the continuous advancement of Ogbomosoland,” Oba Olaoye stated.

Beyond prayers, the monarch emphasized the collective responsibility of every Ogbomoso indigene in driving the city’s progress. He urged citizens to unite in love and purpose to build a thriving future for generations to come.

“The development of Ogbomosoland is in our hands. Let us come together, support one another, and work towards making our land a beacon of progress and excellence,” he added.

The Appeal Court’s ruling has further solidified Oba Olaoye’s position as the legitimate Soun of Ogbomoso, though the legal battle is expected to continue at the Supreme Court, following the appellant’s decision to challenge the judgment.
