The management of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, has launched an investigation into a reported incident involving Dr. Chukwudi Okoye, a lecturer in the Department of Theatre Arts and Film Studies, and Goddy Mbakwe Precious, a 300-level student of the Department of History and International Studies.
The incident, which has attracted public attention on social media, is being taken seriously by the university.
In a statement signed by Njelita Louis O., Acting Head of Information, Public Relations, and Protocol, the institution reaffirmed its commitment to fairness, discipline, and ethical standards.
The Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joseph I. Ikechebelu, has ordered a full-scale, transparent, and unbiased investigation into the matter. The university urged all concerned parties and the general public to remain calm as the process unfolds.
“UNIZIK is dedicated to upholding discipline, self-reliance, and excellence. Appropriate actions and sanctions will be taken based on the outcome of the investigation,” the statement read.
The institution emphasized that indiscipline, misconduct, or any form of unacceptable behavior will not be tolerated within the university community. Further updates will be provided as necessary.
