Mukaila Senwele, a Lagos-based comic musician of Ilorin origin, famed for his popular catchphrase, “Koni da fun ebo to se koste,” passed away on Friday evening in Ilorin, Kwara State.
The burial (Janaza) was held on Saturday at the Muslim Cemetery in Ilorin in accordance with Islamic rites. Family members, friends, and admirers gathered in large numbers at the cemetery to pay their last respects to the 38-year-old entertainer.
Mukaila hailed from the Esinrogunjo family compound in Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State.
Circumstances Surrounding His Death
Rumors about the cause of his death have circulated widely. Some speculated that he collapsed on stage during a performance, while others alleged he had a confrontation with someone who had threatened him.
However, in a video obtained from TojuboleTV, Mukaila’s family refuted these claims and attributed his death to the will of Almighty Allah. They acknowledged that his passing was sudden and unexpected but emphasized that it was God’s decree.
Family’s Account
Mukaila’s first son narrated the events leading to his father’s death:
“After he finished praying, he called on us to go and pray as well. While we were praying, a visitor came to see him. He went in with the visitor, but a few minutes later, we were called to check on him. By the time we entered the room, he was already gasping for breath. We rushed him to the General Hospital in Surulere, but the doctor referred us to Balogun Hospital in Ilorin. Unfortunately, it was obvious he had passed away before we reached the hospital because the doctor declared him ‘brought in dead’ (BID).”
Brother’s Account
Comrade Eshirogunjo Musbau, Mukaila’s brother, offered a similar account:
“He was in his room until around 5 p.m. and appeared healthy. He even recorded a video earlier that day. After praying at 4 p.m., he only complained of a stomach ache between 5 and 6 p.m. He passed away while being taken to the hospital.”
Family’s Position
The family denied reports of Mukaila collapsing on stage or having any unresolved disputes with anyone. Comrade Musbau added:
“As Muslims, we believe his death is the will of God, and we have accepted our fate.”
Mukaila Senwele’s sudden demise has left a void in the hearts of his fans and admirers, who will remember him for his humor and unforgettable contributions to the comic music scene.
