Hon. Olamijuwonlo Alao-Akala, son of the late former governor of Oyo State, Otunba Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala, has paid a heartfelt tribute to his father on the third anniversary of his demise.
Otunba Alao-Akala, a prominent elder statesman and former governor, passed away on January 12, 2022, at the age of 72. Since his passing, family members, friends, and political associates have gathered annually to honor his legacy and offer prayers in remembrance of his impactful life.
In his tribute, Olamiju Alao-Akala, who currently represents Ogbomoso North, South, and Oriire Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, described his late father as a guiding figure whose presence is sorely missed.
“We deeply miss your fatherly love, wise guidance, infectious laughter that brought joy to every room, and your magnanimous heart,” he wrote.
Reflecting on his father’s life, Olamiju noted the profound influence his father had on those around him, adding that his legacy continues to inspire many. “In reflective moments like these, we are reminded of the profound impact you had on us and everyone lucky enough to cross paths with you. We find solace in your enduring legacy, the love you inspired among the people, and the countless lives you impacted and continue to impact,” he added.
Otunba Alao-Akala served as the governor of Oyo State between 2007 and 2011, during which he implemented several developmental projects and prioritized grassroots development. He was also a former deputy governor and chairman of the Ogbomoso North Local Government Area.
Fondly remembered as Àrèmu Ikò, Òmò Olokùn Èsin, and the Bobagunwa of Ogbomosoland, he was affectionately called “The Tiger” for his bold and fearless approach to leadership.
As the anniversary is marked, Oyo State and the people of Ogbomosoland continue to honor the memory of a man whose life was devoted to public service and community development.
