In a momentous celebration of excellence in Nigeria’s tourism sector, it was a double bargain for Barrister Wale Ojo-Lanre, Director General of the Bureau of Tourism Development, Ekiti State, who was honored with the prestigious Fellowship Award by the Institute of Tourism Professionals in Nigeria (ITPN) and also went away with Long Service Award for Tourism Development and Promotion in Nigeria

The accolades were bestowed upon him during a grand ceremony at the Raw Materials Research Centre Banquet Hall in Abuja, attended by distinguished stakeholders, practitioners, and administrators committed to the promotion and development of tourism across the nation.

Barrister Ojo-Lanre, who was among the first set of Associate members to receive such recognition from the ITPN after navigating a rigorous examination process, is celebrated not only for his academic prowess but for his unwavering dedication to the advancement of Nigeria’s tourism landscape.
The distinguished President of ITPN, Chief Abiodun Odusanwo, lauded Ojo-Lanre stating, “Ojo-Lanre thinks tourism, dreams tourism, and acts tourism.”
This remark underscores Ojo-Lanre’s passionate commitment to a vision of tourism that promises sustainable development and cultural enrichment.

In addition to the Fellowship, Barrister Ojo-Lanre was also awarded the Long Service Award for his outstanding contributions to the development and promotion of tourism in Nigeria.
His tireless efforts and visionary leadership have positioned Ekiti State as a vibrant hub for tourists and travelers, showcasing the rich culture and diverse heritage of the state.

In his acceptance speech, Ojo-Lanre expressed profound gratitude to the Institute for their recognition of his work and pledged to continue striving for excellence in the tourism sector.
“This honor is not just a personal achievement; it is a validation of the my effort of my efforts at making sure that Nigeria taps the humongous advantages of Tourism Together, we will propel Nigeria’s tourism industry to new heights, ensuring that it serves as a vital engine for economic growth and cultural exchange.”

The ceremony also saw a delegation from the Ekiti State Bureau of Tourism Development, including Hon. Oluyomi Bolarinwa, Chairman of the Board of Tourism, and Mr. Peculiar Ekiran, Special Assistant to the Governor on Tourism Development, who each shared their exhilaration for Ojo-Lanre’s achievements.
