Nigerians including president Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Mr Peter Obi, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Members House of Reps have commended the Super Eagles Players, coaches and entire management team for their tenacious performance in the final of the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Côte d’Ivoire.
Having lost to the host country, Cote D’voire, the Super Eagle clinched the Silver Prize at the prestigious Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023 for a fifth time
President Bola Tinubu in a statement signed by his media adviser Ajuri Ngelale President Tinubu the entire team for their hard work, assiduity, and sacrifice to went that far in the tournament, acknowledging the hurdles they consistently surpassed with steadily improving performance as they pulled through to the finals.
The President who urges Nigerians to be of good cheer, emphasizing that we won a great victory in the hearts of Africa and the world by our grit, rigour, and determination in the field of play.
“Let this passing event not dispirit us, but bring us together to work harder. We are a great nation bound as one by the green-white-green banner of resilience, joy, hope, duty, and untiring love. To those cherished Nigerian youths expressing their gifts in communities, drawing lines in the sand as they play football in their humble rectangles of play, you can be our heroes tomorrow, do not relent in your pursuit. My administration is here to make dreams come true,” the President says.
Former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in a short message posted in X wrote “Not the result we all expected. Nonetheless, we remain #SuperEagles. Still proud of you guys. Well done,Super Eagles. -AA”
Labour Party Presidential Candidate in the last election Dr Peter Obi who also posted on his X said “Our national team, the Super Eagles, put in their best efforts with high energy, stamina, and tactics, but in the end,Cote d’Ivoire emerged victorious and won the cup. I congratulate our national team, and indeed every Nigerian, for our great display of talents and football skills which took us far in the tournament”

Nevertheless, they have proven that Nigeria remains the giant of Africa in sport and other endeavours. During the tournament, Nigerians showed that we are one great nation. Nigerians are proud of you,” the Speaker told the Super Eagles at end of the game.
He Noted that the country has been more united by their sterling performance at the tournament, he commends the Super Eagles for giving a good account of themselves during the tournament.
