The new Jagun Olubadan of Ibadanland and owner of Ilaji Hotel and Sport’s Resorts, Engr. Dotun Sanusi, Association of Ibadan Mogaji’s led by Mogaji Asimiyu Ariori, and Ibadan Chiefs have commended the Oyo State governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde for his contributions to the completion of Olubadan palace
They stakeholders who expresses joy that at last, the highly respected traditional institution of Ibadanland will once again have a decent Palace said Gov Makinde has made Ibadan proud with his donation towards ensuring speedy completion of the new Olubadan Palace located at Oke Aremo, Ibadan.
A statement signed by the Chiefs thanked the President General, Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes, (CCII), Barr. Chief Niyi Ajewole, all his Executives and members for their consistency and doggedness which facilitated huge success received from Governor Makinde and all the Local Government council’s in Ibadanland.
According to them, huge support of governor Makinde remain a landmark as this will not only complete the Palace, but will definitely make the Olubadan of Ibadanland to move to the new Palace in a matter of months.
History had it that the first Ultra modern Olubadan Palace situated at Oja’ba was constructed and commissioned over four decades ago.
But lack of space and other logistics challenges was responsible for the construction of another Palace which was hugely facilitated by the CCII.
The land where the new Palace is situated was approved during the administration of Chief Kolapo Olawuyi Ishola while the further extension was done during the regime of High Chief Senator Rashid Adewolu Ladoja.
The first grand breaking of the Palace Construction was done during Administration of late Governor Abiola Ajimobi, who equally supported commencement of the construction from the scratch.
