Integrity is the seed of achievement, it is a principle that never fails. Creating a culture of integrity and accountability not only improves effectiveness, it also generates a respectful, enjoyable and life giving setting. These are the legacies set by Hon Segun Odebunmi, who through his work developments in his constituency far and wide over the years has spoken for itself.
The reign of Hon Segun Odebunmi so far has birthed forth so many projects with the aim of adding value to the good people of its constituency. Projects touching virtually every essential sector, ranging from the rehabilitation of 5 roads, development of ICT centers coupled with building various blocks of classrooms, Facilitation of FRCN Ògo-Ìlú to the Constituency (which amount FRCN to be four (4) in Oyo state), Approval of Ayede Federal Polythecnic was also part of his active representation with other stake holders, 13 ultra modern solar borehole designed at various points in the Ogooluwa and surulere LGAs. Erection of numerous solar streetlights across the constituency.
Not to forget the installation and electrification of transformers at strategic locations in the constituency; distinctively at Iregba Town after long years without electricity along with the connection of its electricity to the national grid. All thanks to the mastermind, Hon Segun Odebunmi.
Significantly the interest of the youths have not been sidelined but rather young minds of the constituency have benefited from various empowerment schemes. Some of which include: 1. Training of over 500 youth on modern day advertisement and cash as support through APCON at Ragaray Hotels and suites in June 2021.
2. Training and empowering of the constituency youths on Bee rearing at Igbó-Ilé.
3. Training of constituency youths and Theatre practitioners in the constituent through the Nigeria film cooperation at Ajaawa in Ogooluwa and Igbó-ilé in Surulere local government.
Consequently, with his influence he has also secured for the Constituency Youths hundreds of federal government jobs in ; the Airforce, NTA, NOA, Nigeria Custom, FIRS, PRESIDENCY, FRSC, APCON, FRCN, Nigeria Police, Nigeria Army.
In the same vein, he has also been a driving force at the green chamber with his numerous propositions in the house. Below are some of the motions proudly sponsored by Hon Segun Odebunmi along with their synopsis and how they’ve been of help to the nation and other states; Motions ;
1. Need to access the African continental free trade agreement signed by President Muhammadu Buhari at the extra-ordinary session of the assembly of African Union Head of state and Government in Naimy ,Niger Republic on the 7th July 2019.
2. An overview of the Directive on foreign exchange restriction on food importation
3. An overview of the border closures by the federal government vis-à-vis its economic implications.
Synopsis ;
📍The motion to access African Continental Free Trade Agreement is aimed at allowing free access of some goods and products by removing about 90% of tariff, most especially, goods are that produced within Africa. This will encourage intra-Africa trading in areas of comparative advantage. The volume of trade will increase and that is capable of increasing overall Production and GDP of countries in Africa.
📍On the other hand, in order to empower Local currency and stimulate local production, food products that can be produced locally in Nigeria should be restricted. This is otherwise known as import substitution.
📍The attempt to implement restrictions led to the closing of border spaces in Nigeria to disallow importation of some certain goods, most especially food products like Rice. The closing of border will also disallow illegal smuggling, most especially, smuggling of arms by the terrorists and bandits.
While motion one supports opening of borders for other African countries, motion two and three cautions Nigeria in her decision because border opening without some restriction is counterproductive to socioeconomic conditions of the Nation.
Hon. Segun Odebunmi has proven to be a resourceful leader who through the creation, management, and his numerous implementation have great added value to his constituency and more importantly to the country as a whole. If a lot is to be casted a thousand times, a thousand times it will fall on Hon. Segun Odebunmi for his great works and contribution to the betterment of the nation as a whole.
