Senator Folarin Facilitates BIODEC’s Training on Post Harvest Techniques For Farmers in Oyo

National Bioresources Development Agency (NABDA) has trained selected farmers in Oyo central senatorial district on post harvesting techniques in order to enhance quality storage and increase food production

 

The training which was facilitated by the lawmaker representing the senatorial district, Senator Teslim Folarin was done in cojuction with Bioresources Development Centre (BIODEC) Oka Akoko and handled by Hayes Multisystem Investment Ltd.

During the Five days training which was held at Opete town hall, otamokun road, ogo Oluwa local government, participants where exposed to various post harvesting and storage techniques

The facilitator Senator Teslim Folarin in his remark said the training is one of the way through which he intends to better the lots of the constituents especially the farmers, artisans and traders and he urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the opportunity for improved society.

Engineer Soliu Bare Gbadamosi, BIODEC, Oka Akoko Centre Director while adressing the participants said the essence of the training is to sensitise the farmers and improved method of farming and storage produce to increase availability and boost food production.

While commending Sen Teslim Folarin for the steps in supporting the farmers, traders and artisans in his constituency and urge him not to relent in his efforts, Gbadamosi also advise the beneficiaries to make good use of the training and apply them in their Business.

One of the facilitator, Mr Oladunmoye Abiola explained that the target was for the rural farmers because they suffer great loss due to poor storage techniques and facilities ,” Majority of them don’t have idea of storing farm produce, during this training we put them through the modern techniques and how to collaborate with others to ensure effective and profitable venture in agric business.

Some of the participants commended Senator Folarin and BIODEC for the training which they said has further exposed them to another opportunity in agric business.

Adeyemi Olasunkanmi. a farmer from Ajalusi village in Surulere local government said ” Prior to this training, i do not have enough knowledge on post harvest techniques and i do loss many thing including the financial gains but with this training now i have been equipped with knowledge and i will apply it, i hope it would boost my production and I will gain more

Also, Mrs Ibiduni Abel, a farmer and produce buyer said the training will reduce the loss from buying decayed product from farmers” We do give them money to farm but most ended up in regrets and loss especially during the dry season most of the product will have damaged so with this training i am hopeful that things will improve and we will have better production and storage system.

Participants were given certificate, juice mixer and cas suppprt .
