Politicians have been advised to bear in mind that they will always need the support of the electorates to realize their ambition, hence they must fulfill their campaign promises.
The Chief Imam of Omi tuntun central mosque, Alhaji Abdmojeed Olanase gave this admonition in his lecture at the interdenominational prayers held to mark the 53rd birthday anniversary of the Special Adviser to Oyo State Governor on Culture and Tourism, Hon. Akeem Ademola Ige last Tuesday.
The interdenominational prayers held at Hon. Ige’s family compound, Odinjo, Ibadan was attended by his wife, Alhaja Adepeju Ige, members of his families, community leaders, friends, political associates and other well-wishers.
The interdenominational prayer was organised to offer thanksgiving to God for sustaining the life of the erstwhile Lawmaker in the Oyo State House of Assembly. Pastor Peter Babatunde and Deaconess O.O. Oyetunji led the Christian clerics while the Alhaji Abdulmojeed Olanase, Sheikh Musibau, Chief Imam Arapaja mosque and Sheikh Abdulrazaq, Chief Imam Odinjo mosque led Muslim clerics.
The gathering gave opportunity for some of the dignitaries to pay glowing tributes to the celebrant, Hon. Ige for his generosity, and selfless life he has been living which has impacted positively in the life of thousands of people.
Imam Lanase described the celebrant, Hon. Ademola Akeem Ige as a core politician with special attributes of loyalty, humility, generosity and down to earth politician that always use any opportunity he has whether appointed or elected to serve the people.
Imam Lanase who recalled that his genuine and unalloyed loyalty he displayed in the build up to the 2019 general elections caused him to lose a ticket for the House of Representatives election, noted that time was ripe for him to realize that ambition in 2023 general elections.
The Chairman Community Development Council (CDC) Ibadan/Ibarapa Zone, Alhaji Abdulfatai Oloyede who spoke on behalf of the communities said that Governor Seyi Makinde has done tremendously well in government since he came on board, stressing that only only the ingrate people will not vote for him for second term.
According to him, “I have witnessed many governments and i can authoritatively confirm to you that the administration led by seyi makinde is superb in terms of delivering on his campaign promises. i have never seen a government that appointed over 5,000 teachers at once. not only that, he employed over 1,500 for amotekun security outfit and another 2000 health workers.
Not only that, he has embarked upon massive construction of roads in all the geo political zones, prompt payment of workers’ salaries on or before the 25th of every month, payment of backlog of retirees’ pensions among others. putting all these things together, we can see that governor makinde has justified the confidence reposed in him and we should not be ungrateful by not voting for him for second term.”
Among the notable dignitaries that graced the occasion were, the Special Assistant to Oyo State Governor on Islamic Affairs, Imam Abdulrasheed, former Chairman Ibadan South East Local Government, Hon. Abiodun Adedoja Ekolo, PDP Chairman Ibadan South East Local Government Engr. Sulaiman Adesina led party executives at the local and ward level, the Coordinator of Ige Again in Germany, Mr Oriyomi Wasiu Bello.
Others include his close aides, Alhaji Taofeek Salami (Osama), Hon. Abiodun Lawal Special Adviser to the Chairman on Environment, Atilola Mutiu, Ismaila Akinpelu, Alade Sarafa, Hon. Saheed Lawal, Lukman Abuga and Mrs Yinka Adetunji (Adelas).
