The Late Ladoke Akintola Foundation would on Jan. 12 honour some Nigerian personalities, including former Head of State, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida and three serving governors.
The governors are Abiola Ajimobi, Akinwunmi Ambode and Rauf Aregbesola of Oyo, Lagos and Osun states, respectively.
This is contained in a statement issued by the Chairman, Planning Committee, Mr Adedokun Adeyemi, on Tuesday in Ibadan.
Other personalities to be honoured are Prof. Akinjide Osuntokun, Prof. OBC Nwolise and Sen. Ayoade Adeseun.
Mr Raji Adewale, the Group Managing Director, Odu’a Investment Limited; Mr Bamiji Ojo, former Director, NCC Ibadan; Punch Newspaper; Ahmadu Bello Foundation, and Late Ladiji Gbadamosi, former President, Ogbomoso Parapo, also made the list.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the foundation was established in honour of the late Premier of Western Region, Late Samuel Ladoke Akintola.
“The event would feature the official launching of the foundation and award presentation to distinguished personalities at the Afe Babalola Auditorium University of Lagos (UNILAG),’’ it said.
The statement said that Ajimobi and Prof. Ralph Akinfeleye of Department of Mass Communication, UNILAG, would deliver key note address at the event.
It stated that President Muhammadu Buhari would be the Special Guest of Honour, with Dr Yomi Finnih as Chairman, and Mr Chris Ogunbanjo as Father of the Day, while Amb. Yomi Akintola and Dr Abimbola Akintola are the chief hosts.
Some of the traditional rulers expected are the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Abubakar Sa’ad III; Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu; Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, and Alhaji Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, Emir of Kano.
Others are Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, Alaafin of Oyo; Oba Sikiru Adetona, Awujale of Ijebuland; Oba Saliu Adetunji, Olubadan of Ibadan; Oba Jimoh Oyewumi; Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi, Olofa of Offa, among others.
