Although the Council on Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) has sealed off the building after it collapsed but some of the staff and students in the college demands urgent actions

The building which was at roofing stage collapsed on 31st July 2021
when the steel roof work was ongoing.

It was learnt that the indoor sports complex which is a capital project was at the roofing stage and the steel roof was ongoing when the incident happened

Findings revealed that the collapse might not be unconnected to structural defection due to use of sub standard materials and professional negligence of those handling the project

Meanwhile stakeholders have urged the relevant agencies to do a thorough investigation about the reasons for the collapse and the need to ensure proper monitoring of projects awarded to contractors by the government

” Thank God the building has not been put into use by the students, it would have been another story but we thank God that the project is ongoing, we only need to appeal to the relevant agencies to investigate the reasons for the fall and start construction of another one immediately, says one of the staff of the institution who don’t want his name in print.
