As the Executive Governor of Oyo state, Engr. Seyi Makinde marks two years anniversary of his administration, the Ndi-Igbo in Oyo state has expressed gratitude to the Governor for running an all inclusive government, prioritizing competence and ethnic tolerance in his scheme of affairs.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Community Relations (Ndi-Igbo) Barr. Kingsley Ike, to mark the second year in office of the Oyo state helmsman. While expressing gratitude on behalf of the Igbo Community in Oyo state, Barr. Ike applauded the business friendly environment under the stewardship of the Governor.
He said:“What we are witnessing in Oyo state is unprecedented. GSM has performed tremendously well by implementing policies that guarantee safe environment for businesses to thrive. From the feedbacks from our people, life is much more easier in the past two years as key worries of the past, including but not limited to Multiple or improper taxation and intimidation in business places has waned down.”
“Our people have been welcomed with open arms. Not just welcomed but also given a strong feeling of belonging in the real sense of it. The era of marginalization is gone. We live and thrive like never before; all thanks to the efforts of GSM.”
Barr. Ike further highlighted the non- discriminatory policy of the state Government in making quality education available for both indigene and non-indigenous people in Oyo state: “In terms of Education and the complete turnaround policy of the state government, school children in public schools are afforded equal treatment despite ethnic affiliation. Free textbooks and other Educational materials are readily made available in public schools. The recent recruitment by the Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) in Oyo state did not toe ethnic path, but placed capacity over other considerations.”
He further assured the Government and the people of Oyo state that Ndi-Igbo, resident in Oyo state will collectively reciprocate these gestures by supporting future aspirations of the Governor, even beyond 2023: “To whom much is given, much is expected. Our people are great beneficiaries of the present administration’s decisive approach to Governance. Life has been made much more easier for us here and we are grateful for that. We have been made to feel at home and we will surely support the future ambitions of the man who has stood by us” he noted.
