Six people were today killed by unknown gunmen in Wasinmi Village Irewole Local Government Area of Osun State,.
It was gathered that the assailant opened fire on the six people who were member of the same family when they invaded the community at the wee hours on sunday.
Thenewsbearer reports that the gunmen invaded the residence of the family members at about 3:05a.m., and fatally pumped bullets into the family head, his two wives and three grandchildren.
The Police Public Relations Officer in Osun, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the tragic incident.
She said the Commissioner of Police in the State, Wale Olokode, and some detectives have moved to the village to fish out the perpetrators.
The state Commissioner of Police, Olawale Olokode however said that the unfortunate attack on the family was in no way connected with any clash between farmers and herders, as being speculated in some sections of the media.
The Osun State Coordinator of Oodua Peoples Congress, Prince Deji Aladesawe, members of OPC, hunters and police have been deployed to the settlement for the arrest of the suspects
