The Oyo State House of Assembly, on Thursday, asked the Coordinator, Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), Oyo state to appear before it on 24th October, 2019 to brief the assembly on the Federal Government plans to fix Deplorable Federal Roads across the state.

The house requested the presence of the Oyo state (FERMA) Coordinator following a matter of urgent public important brought before the house by the Honorable representing Iseyin/Itesiwaju state consistency, Hon. Dele Akinola on Deplorable Federal roads in the state.

Hon. Dele who lamented the deteriorating state of Moniya – Iseyin road, Oyo – Ogbomoso road and other dilapidated roads in the state, craved the house indulgence to as matter of urgency call on the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), Oyo state to give their account on federal government plans to rehabilitate dilapidated Federal Roads across the state.

The speaker, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, thereafter ruled that the Agency boss in Oyo state appear before the assembly on Thursday, 24th October, 2019.

The house also directed the Chief Medical Director, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso, and the permanent secretary, Oyo state Hospitals Management Board to appear before it on the 24th October, 2019.

The speaker, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, gave the standing order following a motion moved by the Honorable representing Oyo East/ Oyo West State constituency, Tunde Isiaka tagged – ” Urgent Need To Rescue Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Teaching Hospital, Oyo Annex From Further Dilapidation.”

Hon. Ogundoyin noted that the call on the Health stakeholders to appear before the house became necessary in order to hear from the horses mouth and ensure that the huge amount of money committed on LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Annex Oyo is salvage.

However, a motion that created a bone of contention on the floor of the house is the second reading, Control of Commercial Motorcycles (Further Amendment), Bill, 2019.

After series of cross fertilization of ideas, the lawmakers resolved to meet with all stakeholder involved in the transportation sector of the state including the police and other sister security agencies in a bid to find a lasting solution to the influx of illegal and unregistered commercial motorcycles in the state.

The house also suggested the possibility of uniting all transportation Unions in the state under one umbrella so as to effectively monitor the transport sector.

The speaker, Hon. Ogundoyin, however, committed the bill to joint committee on works, transports and security for further scrutiny before its third reading.

In the same vein, the house deliberated on needs for the state government to renovate and equip libraries in public schools and other public libraries in the state.
