Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams has reiterated his commitment to partner with relevant stakeholders in Yorubaland in ensuring that the region is safe and free of criminal activities.
Adams while speaking with journalists in Ibadan said “I am ready to comply and partner with them because when the safety of people is being threatened the economy cannot thrive, their won’t be peace, and we don’t want that in our region, because our image matters, the image of our country matters
“I have been talking to state governors, just yesterday I was with the governor of Oyo state to rub mind with him about the security issue and from our discussion I can deduce that he has a very good plan on security, South west governors forum are also planning something better on security and with some of us that have e a very good antecedent of partnering with police and other security agencies i believe our collaboration will yield positive development.
He also called on security agencies must liaise with traditional institution, including traditional rulers, community leaders and all the relevant organization and associations in their jurisdiction
According to him, there must be cohesion; every stakeholder must play their own roles, for us to have a peaceful society and thriving economy.
He said further that we must sensitize our people to be security conscious, most of our people are not conscious, they do not build themselves up about security and this has a huge implication on the society”
While speaking on Yoruba Agenda, Aare Adams said “ At Yoruba Summit Group we are coming with a program where issues affecting Yoruba race and south west will be discussed with a view of providing solution and we are going to mobilize every organization irrespective of any state you come from , we are not going to talk about only security again we are bring economic into discuss, if we are talking of Security if we don’t build the economy we may not have a better society
“If there is no job, no food, the younger ones will be involved in nefarious activities and you know the implications on the society, we want to engage them, gainfully employed so that they can do away from crime and idle hand is a devil workshop, we are trying to put our house in order to build a viable economy in partnership with our government at state and local government so that our region can be free form crime
