The management of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan has described as painful and unfortunate the death of the duo of referee, Femi Okebukola and journalist, Jide Fashikun
Reacting to the demise of the duo, the 3SC management in a release expressed deep sorrow over the development, describing it as a big blow to the sports family.
Okebukola, a member of the Nigeria Referees Association (NRA), Oyo State Council, lost his life in a gastly motor accident while returning from Maiduguri where he handled the NPFL match involving El Kanemi Warriors and Nasarawa United.
Fashikun, a veteran sport journalist died in Abuja owing to complications from partial stroke.
“We at 3SC received with rude shock and disbelief the unexpected demise of Okebukola and Fashikun, two gentlemen who were so committed and dedicated in their respective fields.
“It is quite unfortunate that death struck and took them away from us, it is painful,” stated the release.
“We share in the grief of the entire NRA, SWAN, their families and the nation as a whole.
“While we pray for their souls to rest in peace, we commiserate with their families and pray that God will grant them the fortitude to bear these irreparable loses,” read the statement.
