The Oyo State chapter of the Oodua people’s Congress (OPC) has lauded the Aare Ona Kankanfo of Yoruba land and the National Co-ordinator of the organization, Otunba Gani Adams, for making sure that peace reigns in the South- West Region and for making sure that Yoruba people are united and speak with one voice.
Speaking with Newsmen shortly after the state executive council meeting of the organization that held in Ibadan, Comrade Rotimi Olumo the State co-ordinator said that the Aare Ona Kankanfo , Otunba Gani Adams has performed credibly well as the National Co-ordinator of OPC and the Aare Ona Kankanfo of Yoruba land, saying that the fantastic work he has done for Yoruba land is speaking for him.
Comrade Olumo maintained that the crucial role played by the OPC leader in making sure the Yoruba’s are united cannot be neglected. He said that OPC has assisted the South West region to be crime free. He added that the region is now peacefully and we cannot compared it to other regions in the country.
Olumo admonished the people of South-West to collaborate with OPC and Otunba Gani Adams saying that OPC will not allow any act of kidnapping, Criminality, terrorism and other evil act in South- West. He said that the Aare Ona Kankanfo is battle ready to tackle anybody that does not want peace in the region.
Comrade Olumo further stated that Otunba Gani Adams is collaborating with traditional rulers in the region to forestall any attack from Fulani herdsmen, because the security of Yoruba’s is non negotiatable. He said that Yoruba must be extra-vigilant about security and that is why OPC was established so that the South-West region can be adequately protected.
Speaking on the forthcoming General Elections in Oyo State, Olumo said that OPC is going maintain a neutral stance. He therefore called all OPC members in the state not to allow any politician to use them cause crises, before, during and after the Election. He said that any member caught will be dealt with accordingly because OPC is non-Partisan organization.
Comrade Olumo also disclosed that Oyo OPC now have a disciplinary committee that will deal any member that works against interest of the organization, adding no member is above the law.
He also said OPC in Oyo State remains harmonious and undistracted. He further stated that Oyo OPC strongly believes in the Ideology of the Aare Ona Kankanfo, and we believe that our aspirations is to support and fight for the right of Yoruba’s.
