Oyo State Government has said it would not renege on its 80% student’s attendance policy as a yardstick for promotion of student to the next class in public secondary schools.

Professor Adeniyi Olowofela, the state Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, yesterday re- emphasized this position at the public presentation of the green and blue books to public secondary schools in the state held at the commissioner ‘s car park, Agodi Secretariat, Ibadan.

The Commissioner posited that the effective use of both the ‘Green’ and ‘Blue’ books will assist the teachers to capture the progress of individual student, adding that taking track of student’s performances will no longer be a problem with the availability of the documents.

“The use of these documents will assist school authorities to monitor student’s attendance during classes and how they are making improvement from time to time. It will serve as a necessary tool to actualize the government policy of 80% attendance as a prerequisite for student promotion to the next class”, the commissioner explained.
