Barely three days after a former Federal Character Commissioner from Ekiti Mr Bunmi Ojo was murdered by unknown assailant, two people were reportedly killed by gunmen in Ado Ekiti, the state capital on Monday.
The killings might not be disconnected from the activities of the cultists in the state
It was learnt that somebody was killed around Ojumose in the afternoon while another one was killed in the evening.
Witnesses said the man was shot at a junction close to the end of the newly constructed overhead bridge at the Okesa/Ojumose Area of the ancient town at about 5:30pm.
According to the witnesses, the victim, who was said to be a passenger on a commercial motorcycle, popularly called Okada, was allegedly pursued to the area where he was later killed by his assailants.
The body of the shot passenger had since been moved to an undisclosed hospital by sympathisers who felt he could still survive, as he bled profusely.
The incident led to sudden closure of many shops in and around the Bisi Market located close to the area by their owners, even as many residents who either witnessed or got wind of the killing hurriedly left for their homes .
Security operatives are carrying out dillingent surveilancs and investigation on the activities of the cultists group in the state with the aim of arresting them and make them face the wrath of law.
The outgoing government of Ayo Fayose has also called on the police to ensure those perpetrating the evil act are fish out by the police as soon as possible.
When contacted, the police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO) for the state command, DSP Caleb Ikechukwu said that the command was yet to be briefed by the Divisional Police Officer, (DPO) of the Okesa Division.
He promised to speak on the attack as soon as he got information about the incident.
