I Dumped PDP to Join Progressives Move Against Fayose’s Political Recklessness- Sen. Fatima Rasaki

The Senator repreaenting Ekiti Central Senatorial district at the upper chamber of the National Assembly, Senator Fatima Raji Rasaki, said she joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) to join hands with other progressives elements at rescuing the state from the gridlock of Ayo Fayose.

Senator Rasaki described her former party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as a party where their aspirations can no longer be met.

In a statement signed and made available to journalists, the wife of former millitary admnitrator of Lagos State, Gen. Raji Rasaki said: “Ekiti today is subjected to a state of political anomie by a monster who has muscled and monopolised reasonable avenues of expressing descent view and opinion which could have placed PDP in the state within the admirable view of the people who are languishing ajd being daily tormented by incelement policies from Gov Fayose’s stable.

“Party or no party, I am an Ekiti person, I love my people and my people loves me. I don’t want to incure the cusre of those who have ensured my being a sucessful and relevant political fellow to stay behind, while they are leaving in their drove and multitute, deserting PDP a party.

“l am driven to join APC in Ekiti State, not because of lucre or otherwise, or for the politics of the desire to satisfy personal ego but by responding to my inner stimuli to join hands with othet progressives elements at rescuing our dearest states from the gridlock of the vampire.

“It will be unwise on my part to indulge in the act of commiting a grevious political suicide if I allow my selfish and personal consideration to becloud my sense of service by waiting behind in PDP in Ekiti State, which has been programmed under oath to continue in the Fayose Eleka evil continuity for total impoverishment of my people.”

While rallying supports for the APC candidate for the July 14 governorship election, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, Senator Saraki said: “I am appealing to the people who are still clinching to the pillar of bad governance in the state to steer clear of Fayose -Eleka continuity of evil and climb the liberation podium of Dr. Kayode Fayemi whom God has raised to disentangle Ekiti State from the shackles of Fayose’s political recklessness and rascality.

“I am happy the masses of Ekiti have seen and realised the grand deceptive tactics of Fayose, and have resolved to say goodbye to Jatijati in Ekiti.”

She however commended Fayemi for. “summoning the courage like Moses in the Bible to rise up and lead in this mission of chasing away the pharaoh.”

Oriire Kidnapping: Stop Politicising Amotekun Casualty Figures, Oyelade Tells Opposition

The Oyo State Government has cautioned opposition politicians against politicising the recent kidnapping incident in Oriire Local Government Area, insisting that misleading narratives about the state security outfit, Amotekun Corps, are unhelpful to ongoing efforts to tackle insecurity. The Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, made the appeal in a statement issued on Thursday, saying Governor Seyi Makinde's recent disclosure that about 200 operatives of the Oyo State Security Network Agency (Amotekun Corps) had died since the organisation's establishment six years ago was being deliberately misrepresented. According to Oyelade, some opposition elements had wrongly linked the figure to the recent abduction of pupils and teachers in Oriire, thereby creating a false impression that the casualties occurred during the incident. He described the interpretation as "cheap politics," stressing that no Amotekun operative lost his life in connection with the Oriire kidnapping. "For the opposition to turn the statistics on its head is nothing but cheap politics. Amotekun has not lost a single operative in the Oriire kidnapping incident. The only casualty recorded was a personnel who sustained injuries and is currently recuperating," he stated. The commissioner explained that the 200 deaths recorded since the creation of the corps in 2020 resulted from various causes, including illnesses, natural causes and fatalities sustained during security operations. He added that due procedures were followed in all cases, including notification of the families of deceased personnel. Oyelade maintained that the Oyo State Amotekun Corps remains the most funded and best-equipped security outfit in the South-West, noting that it currently operates 181 vehicles and 450 motorcycles, with a workforce of more than 2,500 personnel. He said the corps is the largest Amotekun formation in the region and one of the best remunerated. The commissioner further recalled that Governor Makinde had consistently advocated state policing and the deployment of superior weapons to security agencies since 2021 to enable them effectively confront bandits and kidnappers. According to him, the governor's repeated calls have received little attention despite the growing security challenges across the country. Oyelade urged political actors to approach the security situation from a non-partisan perspective and avoid statements capable of undermining rescue efforts or endangering lives. He also appealed to residents of the state to continue supporting the government and security agencies in their efforts to maintain peace and security across Oyo State.
