Oyo State Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, has rejected alleged attempts by some leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to persuade him to defect from the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM), declaring his continued loyalty to the political camp of Governor Seyi Makinde and the APM governorship candidate, Bimbo Adekanmbi.

Oyelade, in a statement issued on Thursday, November 5, 2026, said opposition politicians should stop wasting their energy on efforts to lure him away from his political group, insisting that he was not available for political negotiations.

The commissioner disclosed that the Director-General of the APC Gubernatorial Campaign Council, Hon. Yemi Aderibigbe, alongside two other members, Sina Alabi and Sola Ogunbode, had contacted him by telephone last Thursday evening to request an appointment for what he described as an urgent discussion.

While acknowledging his respect for the personalities involved and their political affiliations, Oyelade said it was necessary to discourage them from entertaining hopes of recruiting him into their party.

He noted that the APC’s recent successes in attracting some politicians to its fold might have encouraged the latest approach, but insisted that efforts to win him over would be unsuccessful.

“We in the Seyi Makinde/Adekanmbi political group are not up for grabs and will not be enticed or intimidated by financial inducement,” he declared.

Explaining his position, Oyelade said his political commitment was driven by service and what he described as the disciplined and effective governance being pursued by the Makinde administration.

He recalled that cabinet members and several political office holders worked for two years without official vehicles and other associated privileges because of their conviction in the governor’s management of public resources.

According to him, political leadership should be driven by commitment to public service rather than financial inducements or the assumption that every individual has a price.

The commissioner cautioned the opposition against throwing money at every political challenge, warning that such an approach could ultimately undermine the welfare of ordinary citizens.

Oyelade consequently declared that he would not honour any meeting with the opposition unless its sole purpose was to join what he described as the winning political team of Governor Makinde and APM governorship candidate, Bimbo Adekanmbi.

He reaffirmed his commitment to the political direction of the Makinde-led camp ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
